Under Which Covenant (Law) Are We Bound Today?

1. Why was the first Covenant Given?  (Heb. 9:1; Gal. 3:19,24)

2. Did the old covenant that was taken away include the 10 commandments?
11 Cor. 3:7-15 – “written and engraven in stones is done away ..abolished”
Heb. 9:1-4 – “ordinances of divine service..table of the covenant”
Rom. 7:6-7 – “we are delivered from the law (that said) ..we shall not covet”
Eph. 2:15 – “Having abolished.. the law of commandments…”

3. Are we then not bound to keep the Ten Commandments? (Rom. 8:2)

4. What about the Sabbath Day commandment?

A: Was a sign between God and Israel only (Ex. 31:16,17)  Who? – Israel

C:  Gentiles were never under the Law (Rom. 2:14)

5:  Why do Christians today worship God on the first day  (Sunday) of the week?

A: Jesus rose from the dead on the first day.                          (Mark 16:1-9)
B: First appearance to assembled disciples was on first day   (John 20:19)
C: Next appearance during 40 days was on first day              (John 20:26)
D: Holy Spirit came upon the apostles on first day               (Acts 2)
E: First Gospel sermon was preached on first day                  (Acts 2)
F: Disciples assembled on first day to break bread                (Acts 20:7)
G: Collection was taken on first day of week                        (1 Cor. 16:2)
H: John, an apostle, considered one day special-
