A Road Less Traveled

One of my favorite poems is Road Less Traveled by Robert Frost. It goes like this:

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth

Then took the other as just as fair
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet, knowing how way leads to way
I doubted if I should ever come back

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence
Two roads diverged in a wood
And I took the one less traveled by
And that has made all the difference

I never read this poem that I'm not reminded of the choices I have made on which road I would travel in life.  God
has made us in his image and has given us freedom of choice. I choose to do good or to do evil, to be happy or to be
sad, to be right or to be wrong, to be saved or to be lost.

The bible tells us to
“enter the strait gate, for wide is the gate and broad is the path that leads to destruction  and
many there be which go in thereat.”  Matt. 7:13.

The devil would have us believe that we should do nothing, take it easy, don’t worry, let someone else do it. Take
care of yourself first, enjoy yourself at the expense of others. You’ll be happy when you get this house, this car,
these clothes, that food, this drink. Enjoy, grab for all the gusto you can, you only go around once. Everybody is
doing it, why not me? The devil says just lay back and let the currents of time wash you right into oblivion. Sound
familiar?  We are bombarded with these things everyday. The devil wants us on the boulevard. Christ wants us on
the strait and narrow.

Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever
things are pure, whatsover things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report, if there be any virtue, if there be
any praise, think on these things.
Phil. 4:8

Thus saith the Lord, stand ye in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk
therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.
Jer. 6:16

You see a long time ago, I too,  chose the road less traveled and that has made all the difference.

To Christ be all the glory, praise and honor, for ever and ever. Amen
