OUR THEMES FOR JUNE:
Sunday Morning:  Marriage and the Home
Sunday Evening:  Bringing up Godly Children

We have had a very busy week serving others, serving one another, serving God.  We extend our
sympathy to our dear sister, Dallas Dancy, who is mourning the death of her husband, Tim.  Our dear
beloved brother in Christ kept his appointment with God in death on Thursday, June 5th, at their home.
They have been married almost 45 years.  We all met this past Tuesday evening to show our  love and
concern for her and the rest of the family.  We met again on Wednesday to honor Tim’s life  and
received comfort from God’s word.  Jesus said, “
Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God,
believe also in Me … I go to prepare a place for you … I will come again …
” (John 14:1-3).  When the
Lord called Tim into Paradise, we know that he was not afraid because the Lord was with him
(Psalm 23:4).  May we all know that death is a reality of life!  Let us then prepare to pass from this life
to the next holding firmly to the hand of Jesus, our Savior.

Congratulations to our new sister in Christ, Nancy Bostick.  Nancy has been studying God’s word  for
the past few days and found that she needed the salvation that only Jesus Christ can give.  Do you
remember what Jesus said in John 14:6?  “J
esus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life.  No
one comes to the Father except through Me
.”

Nancy read about the people in Acts 2 who heard that Jesus was indeed the Son of God from       Peter
and the apostles as they preached the gospel.  When they asked “
what shall we do,” they were
commanded to
“Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus for remission of sins …
(38).  About three thousand of those who heard the gospel did what they were commanded to do.
They repented of their sin and were baptized.

Nancy read about the man from Ethiopia in Acts 8.  He was traveling along reading from the Old
Testament book of Isaiah and didn’t understand what he was reading (30-31).  The gospel preacher,
Philip, taught him Jesus (35); and as they went down the road, they came by some water.  The man
asked Philip if he could be baptized.  Philip said to him “
If you believe with all your heart, you may.”  The
man confessed his faith in Jesus Christ.  What do you suppose happened next?  Read it – Acts 38-39!
What an example this is for every person who is searching for the answer to salvation in Christ!  Both
Philip and the man from Ethiopia went down into the water.  Philip baptized him.  When they came up
out of the water, the man went on his way rejoicing.

Nancy read about a man named Cornelius in Acts 10.  Cornelius was a good man, a generous     man,  a
praying man.  Cornelius had a big problem; he was not a Christian.  Goodness will not save anyone.
Salvation comes only by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.  An angel of the Lord visited with Cornelius
and told him what he needed to do.  Take a look at verse 5-6 of this chapter.  “
Send for       Simon Peter
…  He will tell you what you must do.
”  Cornelius obeyed the angel, sent for Simon Peter, called all his
family and friends together, and waited.  Peter preached the  gospel of Jesus Christ to Cornelius and to all
who were present.  Read Peter’s command to Cornelius and his household in verse 48.  “
And he
commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord.
”  They were.

Nancy also read about the Apostle Paul’s conversion to Christianity from Judaism in Acts 9, 22,      and
26.  Take a look at what the Bible says about Paul in Acts 22:16.  “
And now why are you waiting?  Arise
and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord
.”   Paul did, and so did Nancy.
