The church of Christ is alive and well here at St. Andrews Road in Columbia, South Carolina.
Every Sunday every Christian has the opportunity to worship God together in spirit and in truth
at  425 St. Andrews Road (John 4:23-24).  We, also, meet on Sunday evening at 6:00 and on
Wednesday  evening at 7:00 for study and fellowship.

We pray to God in the name of Jesus Christ for God’s will to be done in the church and in
our world (Matthew 18:20).  We are so very thankful for God’s provision every day.  We know
that He hears our requests, our petitions, and our thanksgivings and is able to meet our needs
exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think” (Ephesians 3:20).

We sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs making melody in our hearts to the Lord
(Ephesians 5:19).  We sing with the spirit and with the understanding (1 Corinthians 14:15).
While we sing, we teach and admonish one another with grace in our hearts to the Lord
(Colossians 3:16).

We have the privilege of offering to God our money so that the church has enough to
fulfill our commitments (1 Corinthians 16:2).  The amount we give is according to God’s word -
cheerfully, bountifully, and purposefully as we have been prospered (2 Corinthians 9:6-7).

We eat the bread and drink the fruit of the vine together remembering the death of
Jesus Christ while examining and recommitting ourselves to the Christian life.  The unleavened
bread  represents the body of Jesus.  The fruit of the vine represents His blood
(1 Corinthians 11:23-30).

We read from the Bible and hear God’s word taught truthfully, yet simply, with relevance              to
our  daily lives.  We realize that we must teach and preach the doctrine of Jesus Christ rather        than
the commandments of men (Galatians 1:10).  Jesus spoke about some who draw near to
Him with their mouth and honor Him with their lips, but their heart is far from Him.  When
people worship God “teaching for doctrine the commandments of men”, their worship is in vain
(Matthew 15:8-9).

Last Sunday we looked at “
Decisions – Looking beyond the Moment.”  Thank you for your
kind remarks after our lesson.  Lot lost his family because he failed to look beyond the moment
(Genesis 13, 19).  David had family trouble for the rest of his life (2 Samuel 11).  Judas
committed suicide because he failed to look beyond the moment (Matthew 27).  Joshua and
Caleb looked beyond the moment when they tried to persuade the Israelites to cross over the
Jordon to the Promised Land (Numbers 13-14).  Noah trusted God and built the ark to save
those who were on it (Hebrews 11).  Moses chose his own people over the passing   pleasures
of sin (Hebrews 11).

We make important decisions every day.  These decisions make us who we are and what
we become in life.  The Bible is written for our learning (Romans 15:4).  God’s word is here for
us that we may not sin (1 John 2:1-2).  To be truly blessed, we must walk in the counsel of the
godly.  We must stand in the path of the righteous.  We must sit in the seat of the wise and
humble (Psalm 1).

This Sunday we will consider “
Decisions – Personal and Individual.”  Joshua said it best in
Joshua 24:15,  “
Choose you this day whom you will serve …”  On  Sunday evening we will once
again discuss the awesome power of God as we consider “
God is able to save and to destroy.”

I look forward to our meetings together every Sunday morning, Sunday night, and
Wednesday night.  Get involved!  Pray – Study – Work – Give - Help – Share …
