Our Lesson Theme For February – LOVE

BIBLE BOWL 2008 is now only a week away scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 23rd.  Our
teams are making their final preparations.  Our facilities will be set up and ready.  I can
almost feel the excitement in the air as I write this article.  Bible Bowl is always a
wonderful time of fellowship.  It is great to see both young and older participating in
the study of God’s word.  Even if you are not on one of our Bible Bowl teams, you can
help.  See Brother Wade Holton, and let him know that you will be present and will help
in any way you can.  Your support is greatly appreciated.  By the way, we have 76
teams signed in and ready to participate.

This past Sunday morning and evening we focused our study on “
The Wonders    of
the Love of God
” as we considered the SOURCE of love God – 1 John 4:8; James 1:17),
the OBJECT of love (People –  Ephesians 3:1; John 3:16), and the DIMENSIONS     of
love (Width, Length, Depth, Height – Ephesians 3:18; Romans 8:35-39).  Our
beloved apostle, Paul, prayed that each of us would come to know the love of God,
which is in Christ Jesus.  Our knowledge of the love of God will forever change our
thoughts, our words, and our lives.

This Sunday morning we will study “The Wonder of the Superiority of God’sLlove.”
The love of God extends a superior gift, a superior revelation, a superior  power, and a
superior glorification.  Love is indeed “a more excellent way”  (1 Corinthians 12:31).

On Sunday evening we will study the fifth wonder of God’s love – “T
he Wonder    of
Its Fruit
.”  What is the fruit, the result of God’s love in our lives?  When we love     God,
we will desire His presence.  We will love to talk to Him in prayer and have Him speak to
us through the Scripture.  We will seek to please Him and make sacrifices for Him.  The
love of God in our hearts will result in our love for one another. We will love the
brethren.  We will love our enemies.  We will love the lost.

Let me say thank you again for allowing me to be away to attend the Freed-
Hardeman Bible Lectures.  I have been refreshed and renewed to work more
diligently and study harder than ever for the cause of Christ in our beautiful
Columbia, South Carolina, home.

Men of the congregation:  You are invited to attend the Men’s and Preachers’  Meeting
held every third Tuesday in the month here at St. Andrews Road in our Fellowship
Room.  The meeting begins at 10:00 a.m. and concludes at 12:00 noon         on Tuesday,
February 19th.  Several congregations in our area participate in this     study of God’s
word.  Arrive early for coffee, juice, and a fresh, hot Krispy Kreme doughnut.  After the
meeting we drive over to Cracker Barrel for a “Dutch-treat”     lunch together.  This
month we will hear four speakers:

Brad Frye (Long Creek)        -     How does Jesus think?  (His Head)
Richard McWilliams (Greer)   -     How does Jesus feel?  (His Heart)
Jon Mitchell (Duncan)             -     How does Jesus act?  (His Hands)
Jerry Satterfield (SAR)          -     Where does Jesus go?  (His Feet)

This meeting is not just for elders and preachers.  If you can take a couple of hours
in the middle of the day to meet and study, you would be greatly blessed.

Lately we have had our share of bereavement in the SAR family (Carr, Cotton,
Sheets).  We have also had many out with the various illnesses that sometimes
come with the winter season.  Let us all be in prayer for our brothers and sisters in
their time of sp
ecial need.
