Breakout 2008 is now history.  Wow!  We had a great turnout and a wonderful time of
Bible study and Christian fellowship.  Brother Craig Shackleford did an outstanding job sharing
lessons on every Christian’s “One Goal – No Limits.”  Can you remember some of the lessons
we learned?

              1.  Christ already won the battle for us.  Our task is to finish the race.
              2.  Our “One Goal” in life is to live to honor God in our thoughts, words, and
actions, and then go to heaven with Him.
              3.  Many people put limits on what they will do or can do for God.  We must not
put limits on what God desires of us – “No Limits” –  Whatever it takes!
              4.  Genesis 18:14 – “Is anything to hard for the Lord?”  You already know the
answer to this question.  Satan may walk about like a roaring lion, but our
Savior and Brother Jesus has defeated him.  The elephant proved who the real
                   King was!
              5.  We remember our “One Goal” when we know who we are, who our Savior is,
                   and where our home is.
              6.  Folding the American flag was not as easy as we thought it would be.
              7.  Ah!  That verse is found in John 11:35.
              8.  Teenagers can really sing!

Thank you so much to every adult who helped with our youth rally – 25 in all,  I think.
Thank you to every member our St. Andrews Road youth group who came out to show and
share the love of Christ with others from South Carolina.  What will Breakout 2009 be like?
Even better!

We now turn our focus to the upcoming state-wide Bible Bowl scheduled for
February 23rd, only three weeks away.  We need every Christian to be here for this year’s
event.  Our youth teams and adult teams have been working very hard studying from Esther
and Amos.  Let’s make this year’s Bible Bowl one to remember by our attendance and by our
diligent desire to help wherever we can.

On Sunday, February 3rd, through Friday, the 8th, Cindi and I will be in Henderson,
Tennessee for the 72nd Annual Freed Hardeman University Lectureships.  This year’s theme
is “
Behold the Lamb – John’s Gospel of Belief.”  I appreciate the opportunity you give me
each year to be away to refresh my mind and spirit at the feet of some of the church’s most
influential instructors.  Please pray for us as we travel.  Wouldn’t it be great if we could take
a group from SAR one year to the FHU lectures?  Maybe next year we can!

We’re doing great in 2008!  For the month of January, we exceeded our budget of
$5,012.00 per week by $832.00 for the month.  God will certainly bless us as we read His
word and put into practice what we learn.  When we give bountifully, we will receive
bountifully (II Corinthians 9:6-7).  We are to give as we purpose in our hearts, not grudgingly
or of necessity but cheerfully.  God loves a cheerful giver.  God is able.  He promises us that we
will always have “all sufficiency in all things” that we will “have an abundance for every good
work.”

Our attendance on Sunday morning is on the rise with an average of 206 (204, 220,
184 [rained all day], 215).  Our Sunday evening and Wednesday evening attendance . . .?
Whew!  We can do much better at coming together every Sunday and Wednesday evening.
We’ve been talking about temptation.  Maybe this is one area where Satan sees an opportunity
to tempt us.  Let’s come together for worship and Bible study to show our enemy that he
simply doesn’t have a chance.  More than this, may we honor our God for His rich blessings
toward us.
