September already!  Autumn is on the horizon (23rd).  With the fall season we enjoy cooler
weather, the changing of the leaves, and, of course, our Ladies’ Day here at St. Andrews Road.  Our
Ladies’ Day this year has been scheduled for Saturday, September 22nd (only 3 weeks away!).  Our
theme is “
What is Our Life?  Maturing? Or Simply Enduring?”  Our special guest speaker for our ladies
will be Sandra Humphrey.  This is a “ladies only” event.

Calling all St. Andrews Road men!  Our ladies have asked us to serve lunch to all the ladies who
will  be  attending.   Last  year  we  had   a  great  time  together  serving  our  ladies.   Go  by  the
Bulletin Board in the lobby and sign up to help.  We need you!

Our  Silver  Lights  group  enjoyed  a  wonderful  trip  to  Charleston  last  Saturday.   We  ate
at Cracker Barrel for brunch.  Then we arrived at the harbor in time to board our “cruise ship” to
Fort Sumter.  After our visit to this historic civil war site, we drove over to Mt. Pleasant for a meal at
a seafood restaurant called Vicker’s.  Brother Rudy Weed does a fine job coordinating activities for
our Silver Lights group.  Check the bulletin board for our next adventure.

Just a thought!  How are you doing so far in this new school year?  Make it your aim to think
as Jesus would think, speak as Jesus would speak, and act as Jesus would act in your every day life.
Follow  Jesus in  love,  patience,  compassion,  boldness,  humility,  seriousness,   kindness,  and
temperament.  Use your time wisely.  Do your best.  Study and be prepared.  Look for ways to help
others.  As you have the opportunity, share the good news of Christ with others.

On Sunday morning we will continue in our series
“Walking in the Footprints of Jesus.”  Last
Sunday we looked at faith.  Faith is more than  seeing, more than feeling, more than thinking, more
than believing.  Faith is also doing.  One may believe and yet not have faith.

This Sunday we will look at the subject of “Repentance.”  Repentance requires understanding,
penitence, admission, correction, and release.  To preach the gospel of Christ is to preach repentance.
It was Peter in Acts 2:38 who commanded those who heard the gospel on that day: “
Repent and be
baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive
the gift of the Holy Spirit
.”

On Sunday evening we will focus our attention on “
Four Keys to Effective Living.”  Last week
we talked about the importance of answering the question: “Who am I?”  When I don’t know who I
am, someone will try to make me be who they want me to be.  When I don’t know who I am the,
“real me” is lost or hidden away.  When I don’t know who I am, then I am powerless to live my life to
its full potential.  Jesus Christ died, was buried, and arose again in order to give me the right to
salvation by grace through obedient faith.  I am a Christian.  Every other choice or action in my life is
determined with this in view.  This week we will focus on “
Choosing” and how to choose correctly.
Purpose is more valuable than popularity.  People are more valuable that pleasures.  Peace is more
valuable than possessions.

In our busy lives may we remember what is most important!
“But seek first the kingdom of
God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you
” (Matthew 6:33).
