We will have a great time of fellowship together as we study together from God’s word being edified in
the most holy faith.

Sunday morning we will continue in our series “Light the Fire” as we consider the topic:  Expectation.  We
have already studied two spiritual principles from our text in 2 Kings 6:1-7:  admittance and
acknowledgement.  The prophet who had lost his axe head admitted his loss then acknowledged where
it was that the axe head went into the Jordon River.  If our faith has grown weak, if our love has grown
cold, we too must admit the reality of our situation and acknowledge where it was that we lost our
“cutting edge.”  The next step in our journey to a closer walk with God is expectation.  This step is a step
of faith.  In James 1:5-8 we find that wisdom comes from God and that we should ask God for the
wisdom we need in life.  We find in this passage that we must ask in faith, in expectation, without
doubting.  The Holy Spirit through James teaches us that the one who doubts is a “double-minded” man
unstable in all his ways (8).  Verse 7 of James  chapter 1 says of the one who prays without expectation,
“Let not that man suppose he shall receive anything from God.”  In our Christian life we must admit our
need.  We must acknowledge where we were, where we are, and where we need to be.  We must also
expect God to restore, rekindle, revive, and renew that which was lost.

On Sunday evening we will consider a much needed principle in the life of every Christian: in order to be
forgiven I must forgive.  We will take our lesson from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 6:9-15
and Jesus’ Parable of the  Unforgiving Servant in Matthew 18:21-35 to learn about forgiveness.
