After a year of waiting, preparation, and two months of daily diligent study, Bible Bowl 2007 has now
arrived!  This Saturday, March 3rd, seventy-seven teams (That’s right – 77 teams!) from all over South
Carolina will be arriving early to test their Bible knowledge of the Book of Acts.  We will have everything
ready!  Even if you are not participating on one of the Bible Bowl teams you can enjoy a great day of
fellowship with fellow Christians as we meet together under the banner of God’s word.

Last Sunday we were tested with a power outage after a passing lightning storm took out a local
transformer.  Thank you for your patience as we continued to worship God in spirit and in truth
without much of our lighting.  Maybe this is another reason why God through the Scriptures directs
Christians to sing “psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your hearts to
the Lord” (Ephesians 5:19).  Another passage (Colossians 3:16) commands “
singing with grace in
your hearts to the Lord.
”  God has chosen the “instrument” He desires.  He did not choose mechanical
instruments.  He chose the human singing voice.  Let us always make melody in our hearts to the Lord,
teaching and admonishing one another with singing just as the Lord has directed.

Mark your calendar for these three big events!

This Sunday we will continue in our series entitled; “Am I drifting?” Remember, last Sunday we focused
on “Knowledge – Things I need to know about drifting.”  Drifting requires no effort.  It is an
unconscious process.  We never drift upstream.  The speed downstream usually increases.  Drifting is
dangerous to others.  It ends in shipwreck unless we take action.  When we stop serving others, when
we stop fighting the fight of faith, when we stop running the Christian race, when we retire into
complacency, when we decide to let someone else carry the load we should be carrying, we begin to
drift.

This Sunday we will focus on “Thought – How can I know if I am drifting?”  The answer to the
following questions can help us determine the answer to our central question:  Am I drifting?  Do I
earnestly desire to study and meditate on God’s word?  Do I have more desire or less desire to attend
the work and worship of the church?  How am I doing when it comes to evangelism?  Am I a prayerful
person?  Do I have greater joy over spiritual honors or worldly honors?  Do I find myself choosing
worldly pleasures over God?  I hope that these lessons will help us move ever closer to Christ in our
daily thoughts, words, and actions.

On Sunday evening our lesson will be taken from Acts 8 where we find the story of the Ethiopian
eunuch becoming a Christian.  How does the gospel work to convert lost souls to salvation in Jesus
Christ?  We’ll consider this question and find the answer in this story.

May God bless us all with health, happiness, and hope as we look forward to our worship together on
Sunday.
