Has it only been eight months?  It’s true!   I’ve counted it.  We arrived in town on July 2, 2006.  I
preached my first sermon as your minister on July 3rd.  We met at our house on Sweet Thorne
Road on Independence Day to unload the U-Haul.  In many ways it seems that Cindi, Ben, and I
have been a part of the church at St. Andrews Road much longer.  Through our work and worship
together over these past few months, we have come to know many of you as true brothers and
sisters in Christ.  This is exactly how it should be.  Fact is, there are some in the St. Andrews Road
congregation that I haven’t come to know as well.  There are many reasons for this.  It could be
the many entrances and exits we have into and out of our auditorium.  This makes it virtually
impossible for us to see each other on a regular basis.  There could be many other reasons.
One thing is for sure.  Getting close to your Christian family takes time and effort.  Cindi and I
are usually the first members to arrive and the last one’s to leave at just about every service.  We
do this     because we truly love to be with our family.  Also, we try to be actively involved in every
aspect of the church.

Please come a little earlier on Sunday morning and evening as well as on Wednesday evening to
visit and get to know your Christian family.  Plan to stay a few minutes following the dismissal
prayer to do the same.  Stay up date on all the activities at SAR and participate in every activity
and event you can.  Read your weekly newsletter.  Pick up a copy of our monthly calendar. Go by
the bulletin board in the lobby.  Every day visit our website at www.sarcoc.org to stay informed.
You can even call our “Care Line” at 726-0777.  The church office does an outstanding job
communicating all the ways to get information to you.  We try in every way to show and share
Christian TLC – Teaching – Loving – Caring.  Jesus directs every Christian to “seek first His
kingdom and His righteousness.”  When we do, He promises that “all these things will be added
us you” (Matthew 6:33).

This Sunday we will begin a three-sermon series entitled “Are You    Drifting?”  We will focus
on KNOWLEDGE this Sunday as we consider some things we should know about drifting.
Hebrews 2:1-3 will be our primary text from God’s word.  Think about it!  Drifting requires no
effort.  It is an unconscious process.  We never drift upstream or against the tide.  While drifting,
speed increases.  Drifting is dangerous to others.  It always ends in shipwreck.  We will examine
our Christian life and ask ourselves, “Am I drifting?”

On Sunday evening we will conclude our series on “Ones” with a lesson from the Old Testament
(Joshua 23:1-16) where Joshua says, “Not One Thing Has Failed.”  Of course, Joshua is reminding
the people of a great truth; God’s word is sure.  God’s promises are certain.

Remember and don’t forget --  Bible Bowl 2007 is now upon us scheduled for Saturday, March 3rd.
From what I hear our building will be full of Christians both young and older from all over the state
of South Carolina able and ready to test their knowledge of the Bible book of Acts.  Mark your
calendar.  Plan to be here to share in this very special day of Bible Bowling.
