Have you noticed?  At just about every service we have many guests who visit with us here at St. Andrews Road,
some from far away, others from across the street.  Sometimes a word of welcome, a handshake, or just a smile
says, “We’re glad you came our way” or “Please come back again” or even “We would love to have you become a
Christian, a member of the Lord’s church.”  As your minister I try to get around to welcoming as many members and
guests as possible.  Fact is, it is almost impossible for me to get to everyone.  This is where you can help!  Make it
your job to notice those in our assemblies who are new.  Smile.  Introduce yourself and say, “Welcome to the
church of Christ at St. Andrews Road.”  Ask them to sit with you.  Listen.  Have them fill out a guest card.  Offer to
answer any question they might have about what they are seeing and hearing.  Together, praying, studying, and
working we will see the church grow spiritually and numerically bringing glory to God in the name of Jesus.  We can
do it!

Monday, January 22, 2007 marks the 34th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to legalize abortion in
the landmark case, Roe v. Wade.  Only God knows just how this case has affected His world.  This Sunday morning
we will focus our attention on the subject of “Abortion.”  We will look at several passages of Scripture from both the
Old Testament and the New Testament and ask and answer several questions on this subject.  It is not my desire to
resurrect memories of decisions that have long been repented of and forgiven.  It is my aim to bring to our minds
the reality of the past and the present and to offer suggestions as to where we can go from here.  May God help
give us wisdom and understanding, sympathy and patience, grace and mercy as we live in a nation that is moving
ever increasingly away from the path that leads to life (Matthew 7:13-14).

On Sunday evening we will continue in our series with a lesson from Mark 10:17-22 and the story of the rich man
who asked Jesus about eternal life.  Jesus answered this man’s question by saying, “One thing you lack…” Could
there be something that you are lacking?  What could be keeping you from eternal life?  Is there “one thing” that
you lack?  May God bless us with a heart of faith and obedience as we open ourselves up to His word.

On Monday our elders met together for several hours in prayer and discussion as they prepared for our
“Congregational Meeting” which has been scheduled for next Sunday, January 28th at 5:00 pm in the auditorium.
Our elders have asked that each and every member be present at this meeting.  They will share with us important
plans for the year and ask for our thoughts, prayers, and support.  Please make every effort to attend.  What a joy
and privilege it is to be a Christian and a member of the Lord’s church at St. Andrews Road.  Get involved!  We
need each other.

On Tuesday we hosted the monthly Preacher’s/Men’s Meeting.  Our discussion centered on “The Importance of
Premarital Counseling.”  The meeting was well attended and the subject was well received.  On Tuesday evening
we met for our Men’s Night Out at Texas Roadhouse.

May God continue to bless us as we seek first His kingdom and His righteousness in our lives every day at home, at
school, at work, everywhere we are.
