| July Themes: A.M. - Jesus said, “I will build My church.” P.M. - In Christ all things become new. Our 2008 Vacation Bible School - “Walking in Son Light” - has been a huge success! Thank you to every member of the St. Andrews Road congregation for your support. Our brother, Bill Young, was our coordinator this year. He did an outstanding job recruiting, organizing, scheduling, and promoting every aspect of our VBS. Bill had shoulder surgery on Wednesday. We hope and pray that this surgery will give him many more years of service to the Lord and to the church at SAR. Thank you to the members of our youth group who came out early last Saturday to clean and decorate the building. Everything looked marvelous. Thank you to those who preregistered and registered every student. Thank you to those who coordinated our snacks. Isn’t it funny how much you enjoy the simple things in life — a cookie and a drink at just the right time! Mmm! Thank you to those who brought drinks, cookies, popcorn, and other snack items. Without you, we would have had some hungry boys and girls! Thank you to those who presented our skits every night. Thank you to those who helped with our crafts. Thank you to those who moved furniture and decorated the auditorium. Thank you to those who came out every night to study God’s word and enjoy the wonderful Christian fellowship. We were here from 6:00 p.m. to well after 9:00 p.m. We enjoyed every minute of it! Thank you to those who made the delicious home-made ice cream and to those who cooked our hamburgers and hot dogs on Thursday night. Thank you to those who stayed late on Thursday to clean up and get our facilities back in order! Our teachers deserve a special note of appreciation! Every teacher spent countless hours of study and preparation for their students. This Sunday we will focus our attention once again on the Lord’s church. We have talked about the origin of the church, the organization of the church, and the work of the church. We will conclude this series of lessons as we focus on the FUTURE OF THE CHURCH. As we consider this lesson, let us look beyond the moment, beyond the day into eternity. Jesus told his disciples in John 14:1-6; “Let not your hearts be troubled … In My Father’s house are many mansions … I go to prepare a place for you … I will come again … that where I am there you may be also.” |
