| THEMES FOR JULY: A.M. – Jesus said, “I Will Build My Church." P.M. – "In Christ All Things Become New." Cindi and I along with the entire Burleson family have been enjoying a few days away vacationing in Myrtle Beach this week. Thank you for the time away. We celebrated our American freedom once again on Friday. What a wonderful life we enjoy as citizens of the greatest country on earth. Yes, we have our problems; and we have much to do to continue to be a Christian light to the world. God has truly blessed us. To Him we offer ourselves as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable (Romans 12:1-2). Are you a Christian? Are you living the Christian life as you should? Only in Jesus Christ can you have real freedom from the primary cause of every problem in the world, sin. He said in John 14:1, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No man comes to the Father except by Me.” He is the “way” to happiness, prosperity, and heaven. He is the “truth” in every sense of the word. He speaks the truth. He lives the truth. He “is” the truth. He is the “life.” Without Him life has no meaning. In Him we know our yesterday, our today, our tomorrow, and our eternity. Our themes for the month of July will challenge each of us to greater service in the Lord’s church. On Sunday mornings in July, we will focus our attention on the church that Jesus established, “I Will Build My Church.” We will look at the origin of the church of Christ, the organization of the church, the work of the church, and the future of the Lord’s church. Every Christian needs to be reminded of who we are in Christ in the church. On Sunday evenings in July, our theme is “In Christ All Things Become New.” “New” is a great word. In Christ old things vanish away. All things become new (2 Corinthians 5:17). In Christ our thinking is new. We have a new lifestyle. We have a new hope. We have a new future in Him. I hope you will be challenged and encouraged by these lessons taken from God’s word, the Bible. Lately, we’ve had many guests visiting with us. Some are just passing through on their way elsewhere. Others are sincerely searching for God, for salvation, and for answers to the questions of life. I’m especially proud of the entire congregation at St. Andrews Road for being such a loving, welcoming church. Every Sunday we have greeters at each entrance handing out our announcement sheets with a loving smile and a warm handshake. Thank you! At the end of every service, our elders stand in the lobby to meet and greet every member and guest. Thank you! I have noticed that many f our members are walking to and fro greeting and welcoming those in attendance. Thank you! Our Bible class teachers are doing a wonderful job with their respective responsibilities, arriving early, being prepared, teaching God’s word, making a difference in the lives of their students. Thank you! May God bless every Christian with His exceeding great and precious promises (2 Peter 1). COMING SOON! Our big Vacation Bible School is coming soon scheduled for Sunday evening, July 20th, through Thursday evening, July 24th. We will begin at 6:30 and end at 8:30 each evening. At our last VBS meeting, we had the entire meeting room full of workers, standing room only! What a joy it is to be able to walk together “Walking in Son Light.” May God bless us as we keep the faith of Jesus Christ every day at home, at work, at school, in the church, when we’re alone, and when we’re together. |
