The Return of Christ

But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep,
that ye sorrow not, even as other which have no hope.
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus
will God bring with him.
For this we say unto you by the work of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain
unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the
archangel, and with the trump of God and the dead in Christ shall rise first;
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the
clouds, to meet the Lord in the air; and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Wherefore, comfort one another with these words.       1  Thessalonians 4:13-18

Behold  I  show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed.
In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump; for the trumpet shall
sound, and  the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on
immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is
swallowed up in victory.
O death, where is thy sting?  O grave, where is thy victory?
The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law.
But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 15:51-57

Which also said , Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same
Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye
have seen him go into heaven.
Acts 1:11

Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our
Savior Jesus Christ.
Titus 2:13

Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their
own lusts,
And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all
things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a
thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness,but is
longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come
to repentance.
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens
shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the
earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye
to be in all holy conversation and godliness?
Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens
being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
Nevertheless we, according to the promise, look for new heavens and a new earth,
wherein dwelleth righteousness.  11 Peter 3:3,4,8-13

Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be;but
we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
1 John 3:2:1

And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the
earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;
Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are
coming on the earth; for the powers of heaven shall be shaken;
And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads;
for your redemption draweth nigh.     Luke 21:25-28

And so he sat upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately,
saying, tell us, when shall these things be? And what shall be the sign of thy coming,
and of the end of the world?
And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that ye be not troubled; for all these
things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom and there shall be
famines, and pestilence’s, and earthquakes, in divers places.
All these are the beginning of sorrows,
Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you; and ye shall be hated
of all nations for my name’s sake.
And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one
another.
And many false prophets shall rise and shall deceive many.
And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto
all nations, and then shall the end come.    Matthew 24:3-14

For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west, so shall
also the coming of the Son of man be.
Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened and the
moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven; and the powers of
the heavens shall be shaken;
And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather
together his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heaven to the other.
Matthew 24:27, 29-31
