John
and
Susan
Dennison
John and Susan are the parents of three children, two daughters and a son.  The oldest daughter, Lauren, lives in Nashville,
Tennessee, with her husband, Ryan.  Lenae, their youngest daughter works as a surgical technologist at Lexington Medical
Center. Jonathan, their son, has finished his freshman year of college and is currently enrolled at the University of Rochester
where he is majoring in biomedical engineering en route to his goal of becoming a surgeon.

John grew up in Rock Hill, South Carolina, where his parents attended the Charlotte Avenue Church of Christ.  His father was a
contractor who built the original church building and led singing at church.  Susan grew up in Fayetteville, Tennessee, where
her parents attended the Washington Street Church of Christ; and her father served as a Deacon for many years.  Her father was a
contractor, police officer, and building inspector for the city.  Both enjoyed being raised in a Christian home and being active in
the church.

John and Susan met in Nashville when he was attending David Lipscomb University.  Later that year they were married and
moved to Rock Hill, South Carolina.  They have been married 30 years.  During that time they have lived in North and South
Carolina and worked in four different congregations of the Lord’s church.

Susan has worked in the insurance industry, Historic Preservation in South Carolina, and has kept children in their home.  She
has worked as a pre-school teacher for 11 years and after school care for 5 years.  Over the years she has taught children’s Bible
School classes and Vacation Bible School.

John worked for 12 years in the electronics (semi-conductor) industry for companies such as Allied Chemical Corporation
(Honeywell), Data General, and DNS.  He moved to Lexington to work for Michelin North America in 1989 where he is currently
employed.  In Rock Hill he worked with the youth program for 7 years and served as Director of Bible School.  He has taught
Bible classes for all ages, preached, and led singing.

John, Susan, and their family came to St. Andrews Road in Columbia, South Carolina, in 1989 when he came to work for
Michelin.  John’s mother is part of their family and lives with them in Lexington.  Since coming to St. Andrews Road, he has
taught Bible classes, led singing, and served as a Deacon for Service Groups and Education.  John has preached at times and
currently teaches the Wednesday Night Bible Class. John was installed as an elder in 1996.

John acknowledges that serving as an elder is very challenging and rewarding.  He is very grateful for his parents and for all
those who took time to teach and support him along the way.  It is very rewarding to see Christians grow in their service to the
Lord.  It is his desire to encourage and motivate others in their efforts to serve the church and grow spiritually.
